We often see the same things everyone else sees, but we don’t always see what God is showing.
As a regular churchgoer, I have sung “Open the Eyes of My Heart, Lord” by Michael W. Smith more times than I can count. Hands lifted. Eyes closed. Voice full.
But if I’m honest, did I truly want my eyes opened? Because when God opens your eyes, He does not just show you comfort. He shows you calling, destiny, and sometimes the gap between where you are and where you are meant to be.
When God Shows, It Is Never Just Information. It Is Activation.
“He took him outside and said, ‘Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.’ And He said to him, ‘So shall your descendants be.’”
Genesis 15:5–6
Everyone else who looked at the night sky saw stars.
Abraham saw sons, daughters, generations, and nations.
What changed? The sky did not change. The stars did not multiply in that moment.
The perspective changed.
My spiritual father and shepherd, Ps Abhilash Varghese, of Tabernacle of David Church, said in his message last Sunday,
“God shows things to activate your destiny.”

That line pierced me. God was not giving Abraham a science lesson about astronomy. He was awakening faith. He was activating a man who had grown tired of waiting. A man whose circumstances screamed “too late,” but whose destiny was whispering “not over.”
Natural Eyes See Limits. The Heart Opened by God Sees Legacy.
Abraham had seen stars before.
He had walked the desert sands countless times.
But that night was different because God was the One pointing.
Without God’s revelation, stars are just lights in the sky.
With God’s revelation, stars become a prophetic picture.
It is like holding an X-ray up to the light. To the untrained eye, it is just shades of grey. But to a doctor, it tells a story of healing needed, of life inside, of things hidden.
When God shines His light on something ordinary, it becomes revelatory.
Why We Miss What God Is Showing
Many of us are looking, but not seeing.
We look at
our age and see delay
our marriage and see strain
our bank account and see lack
our past and see failure
But God looks at the same life and sees promise, process, and purpose.
I have had seasons where I looked at the pages of my life and felt like there were empty chapters. Blank spaces where purpose should have been. I saw delay. I saw wasted time. I saw what was not happening.
I was looking with fleshly eyes.
But when God began to work in my heart through His Word, through consecration, and through the voice of my spiritual covering, the same life began to look different. The same pages no longer looked empty. They looked like chapters being written slowly, intentionally, and divinely.
Seeing Requires Consecration
We want vision without surrender. Revelation without holiness. Destiny without dying to self.
But clarity of sight in the spirit is connected to the condition of the heart.
To see what God wants us to see requires a higher call to holiness, to consecration, and to being set apart. Sin clouds vision, but surrender sharpens it.
From Stars to Sand. The God of Impossibilities.
God did not just use stars. He also used sand.
“I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore.”
Genesis 22:17
Stars are unreachable. Sand is beneath your feet.
One speaks of the heavenly promise. The other speaks of earthly reality.
God was saying, “What I show you in the spirit will manifest in the natural.”
This does not just apply to individuals. It applies to families.
A house is just walls and furniture.
But when God opens the eyes of hearts inside that house, it becomes something else.
A marriage becomes a church when the Spirit breathes life, preached Ps Abhilash.
When two people stop seeing each other through wounds, expectations, and disappointments, and begin to see each other through God’s heart, healing begins. Destiny reconnects. The home becomes an altar.
Maybe it is time we sing that song again, but this time with understanding.
“Open the eyes of my heart, Lord.”
Not so I can feel emotional.
Not so I can have a spiritual moment.
But so I can see
my life the way You see it
my waiting the way You see it
my future the way You see it
Because when God shows, it is never random.
It always follows this pattern.
Revelation. Faith. Activation. Destiny.
The world still sees stars.
But those whose hearts are opened by God
They see generations.

Wow it’s so awesome, may God help you to see and walk in faith and bless you abundantly..
Wow the way it’s written shows the effect of receiving things by being under the annointed one which is my our spiritual father Abhilash Varghese with a surrendered heart. I pray that let my seeing become the way God wants me to see.
