Song of the month

Truth I’m Standing on by Leanna Crawford

Last year, when singer, songwriter and touring artist Leanna Crawford released her radio single ‘Truth I’m standing on’, little did she know that it would inspire thousands of lives. The song was in the top 30 on the Billboard Christian Airplay chart. The intention behind writing the song was simple—to bring the listener closer to the One who loves unconditionally.

The song came out during a season when the world was going through uncertainty, thanks to the pandemic. People were scared, confused and some even had a faith crisis. The song uniquely spoke to different people. While some were filled with hope, others got a deeper understanding of what it means to stand on God’s promises. Crawford’s honest lyrics are highly commendable—it sounds like a friend talking to the listener. The chorus especially, affirms that God is faithful and that His plans are perfect.

This is the truth I’m standing on
Even when all my strength is gone
You are faithful forever
And I know You’ll never
Let me fall
Right now I’m choosing to believe
Someday soon I’ll look back and see
All the pain had a purpose
Your plan was perfect all along
This is the truth I’m standing on

Book of the month

Answers to Prayer by George Müller

This book was a refreshing read. It teaches how to depend on God even for the tiny details of one’s life—that He is interested in things that are considered petty.

I urge you to read this; I experienced a shift in my spiritual realm when I first read it. Müller’s narratives edified me throughout this season of waiting and uncertainty. It taught me to trust God, even in the storm.

“One or the other of these will always be the case in each particular instance. Either we trust in God, and in that case we neither trust in ourselves, nor in our fellow-men, nor in circumstances, nor in anything besides; or we DO trust in one or more of these, and in that case do NOT trust in God.”
― George Müller

Here is an excerpt from the book:

“HOW TO ASCERTAIN THE WILL OF GOD I seek at the beginning to get my heart into such a state that it has no will of its own in regard to a given matter. Nine-tenths of the trouble with people generally is just here. Nine-tenths of the difficulties are overcome when our hearts are ready to do the Lord’s will, whatever it may be. When one is truly in this state, it is usually but a little way to the knowledge of what His will is. 2.—Having done this, I do not leave the result to feeling or simple impression. If so, I make myself liable to great delusions. 3.—I seek the Will of the Spirit of God through, or in connection with, the Word of God. The Spirit and the Word must be combined. If I look to the Spirit alone without the Word, I lay open to great delusions also. If the Holy Ghost guides us at all, He will do it according to the Scriptures and never contrary to them. 4.—Next I take into account providential circumstances. These often plainly indicate God’s Will in connection with His Word and Spirit. 5.—I ask God in prayer to reveal His Will to me aright. 6.—Thus, through prayer to God, the study of the Word, and reflection, I come to a deliberate judgment according to the best of my ability and knowledge, and if my mind is thus at peace, and continues so after two or three more petitions, I proceed accordingly. In trivial matters, and in transactions involving important issues, I have found this method always effective.
