Book of the Month
Anxious for nothing by Max Lucado
This is a book that I had to read over and over again this year. The tagline for the book is, “finding calm in a chaotic world.” As we come close to the end of 2021, I felt this is an apt book to talk about. I don’t know what kind of a year you had—there must have been pain, uncertainty, hurts, complicated relationships, loss and haywire all around. A powerful quote by the author Max Lucado really spoke to me—”The presence of anxiety is unavoidable, but the prison of anxiety is optional.”
Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life” (Proverbs 4:23).
In this new season, I urge you to be conscious of your thoughts. Let us entertain thoughts that are joyful, and are acceptable to the Lord. The book explores God’s treatment plan for anxiety as per the Word of God. Grab a copy; this was a blessing for me and I am sure it will be for you as well.
Max is a pastor, speaker and best-selling author who says that “he writes books for people who don’t read books.” He serves the people of Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas.
Song of the Month
Mary, Did you know?
Lyrics by Mark Lowry and recorded by Michael English
Although the original song is by Michael, I love the acapella version of this song by Pentatonix. The song was written in 1984 and launched in 1991. A treasured Christmas classic, some may say.
It is a powerful reminder of who Jesus is and why He came to the earth the first advent, 2,000 years ago. I am reminded that He is going to come again, the second advent — and this time it is going to be different than the first, because then He came as a baby, and soon Jesus will be back as a King. Are you ready for His return? If your answer is No or maybe, reach out to us—we are more than thrilled to share the joy of salvation and the good news of eternal life in Jesus.
