Being a Lily
Who thought something so beautiful and vibrant as the lilies could grow out of marsh? Despite all the murk and dirt around, these flowers blossom and form a carpet over the marshy field; it covers the entire field and nobody can see the miry clay underneath these flowers. Great are the works of our Creator’s hands. And like the lilies, our Father lifted us from the miry clay and turned us into something beautiful.
Raised me from the miry clay,
Filthy, my clothes had started to fray,
But, He did not turn away,
Instead, He took me in His arms to stay,
Made me beautiful, said His mercies are new every day,
And like the lilies, I stand above the marsh, waiting for the morning ray,
To tell of His goodness, and just bask in His love; maybe even sway!
Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? You men of little faith!
