Scars in Heaven by Casting Crowns

This song was co-written by Mark Hall and Mathew West. Mark was inspired to write this song after he saw his mother take care of her parents during their last days.

The song talks about how the wounds today will all be erased when we go to our Father’s home far away. How the only scars will be only be in our Saviour’s hands.

The chorus is just beautiful:

The only scars in heaven, they won’t belong to me and you

There’ll be no such thing as broken, and all the old will be made new

And the thought that makes me smile now, even as the tears fall down

Is that the only scars in heaven are on the hands that hold you now

The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom

About the author: The Dutch Christian writer was formerly a watchmaker who worked with her father, sister and other family members to help many Jews escape from the Nazis during the Holocaust.

Note: Read it with a box of tissues. Trust me when I say that it brought such conviction to me.

Here is an excerpt from the book. (One of my favourite portions)

And so seated next to my father in the train compartment, I suddenly asked, Father a question. He turned to look at me, as he always did when answering a question, but to my surprise he said nothing. At last he stood up, lifted his traveling case off the floor and set it on the floor.

Will you carry it off the train, Corrie?” he said.

I stood up and tugged at it. It was crammed with the watches and spare parts he had purchased that morning.

It’s too heavy,” I said.

Yes,” he said, “and it would be a pretty poor father who would ask his little girl to carry such a load. It’s the same way, Corrie, with knowledge. Some knowledge is too heavy for children. When you are older and stronger, you can bear it. For now you must trust me to carry it for you.
