In today’s article, I want to remind us not to be cynical or superficial, but to get real with God.
When the Lord shows you something again and again, it’s often His way of getting your attention. God speaks in many ways—through His Word, through people, through circumstances, and sometimes through the simplest parts of His creation. If we slow down enough to notice, we often discover that He has been speaking all along.
There are seasons in our lives when our prayers seem unanswered—when we have been knocking on heaven’s door for something specific, yet it feels like nothing is changing. During such times, we may witness God answering other prayers around us. We hear testimonies of healings, breakthroughs, and deliverance. We see God moving powerfully in the lives of others. And yet, in the quiet spaces of our own hearts, we may wonder why certain personal requests remain unfulfilled.
The truth is, many believers have walked through this place—the place where faith and frustration exist side by side. It is a place of tension, where you still believe in God’s goodness, yet wrestle with questions you cannot fully answer.
I have been in that place myself.
Over the past few months, while navigating one of those seasons, something unexpected began happening. Every morning, two little birds started appearing on my balcony. They would chirp and flutter about, moving playfully from one corner to another.
On the days when I was too busy or distracted to notice them, they would tap on the balcony door until I looked up.
At first it felt like coincidence. But over time, I sensed the Lord gently using these birds to draw my attention back to His Word.
Suddenly the words of Jesus came alive in my heart:
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” — Matthew 6:26
That verse echoed in my heart. The Lord was reminding me that if He cares for the birds, He will surely take care of me. He is faithful even when I cannot see the full picture.
We are living in uncertain times—wars and rumors of wars, economic instability, and growing fear about the future. Yet Jesus said, “See that you are not troubled, for all these things must come to pass.” — Matthew 24:6. God calls us not to be anxious but to trust Him completely. “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7.
Instead of worrying or panicking, this is the time to draw closer to God—to get real with Him. Bring your desires, your fears, your disappointments, and your hopes before Him. Speak to Him honestly, and listen for His voice. The Lord desires intimacy more than perfection. He wants relationship, not ritual.
As you wait, remember His promise: “Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles.” — Isaiah 40:31. Waiting is not wasted when it’s done in faith. It’s in the waiting that we learn to trust His timing, His wisdom, and His love.
So, if you find yourself in a season of unanswered prayers, let it become a season of deeper intimacy with God. Look around at His creation—the birds, the sky, the sunrise—and be reminded that the same God who sustains all things will sustain you too.
He is your source. From Him flows everything you need. And in His perfect time, He will make all things beautiful.
“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” — Ecclesiastes 3:11
| Consider This 1. Be Real with God Bring your fears, frustrations, and hopes honestly before Him. “Pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.” — Psalm 62:8 2. Notice God’s Reminders God often speaks through simple things—His Word, people, and even creation. Slow down and pay attention. 3. Wait with Trust Waiting is not wasted. “Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.” — Isaiah 40:31. Trust that God is working even when you cannot see it. |
