We live in a world that constantly competes for our attention—pulling our hearts, minds, and affections away from God. This is a call to intentional living. A call to crucify the flesh daily.
Crucifying the flesh is not comfortable. It is not trendy or convenient. But it is deeply transformative. This 365-day challenge is an invitation for believers to make daily, deliberate choices—choosing the Spirit over the flesh, and God’s presence over the noise of the world.
A Call to Daily Crucifixion
Scripture makes it clear that following Christ demands daily surrender. Jesus said, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me” (Luke 9:23).
Crucifying the flesh is not a one-time moment at salvation—it is a daily practice. Our natural desires, habits, and comforts often resist obedience, which is exactly why living for Christ requires intention.
The flesh gravitates toward ease, distraction, and self-gratification. The Spirit draws us toward discipline, stillness, and holiness. “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires” (Galatians 5:24). This challenge exists to help us live out that truth—one day at a time.
Why Intentionality Matters
Crucifying the flesh is rarely enjoyable. If it were easy, discipline would not be required. Romans 8:13 reminds us, “If by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.” Left unchecked, the flesh will always choose convenience over consecration.
Modern life feeds the flesh relentlessly. Our phones, notifications, headlines, and endless streams of content are always within reach. Without intention, we drift. With intention, we choose.
On the 1st of January, I made a simple but deliberate decision: the Bible before the phone. Reading Scripture itself was not difficult for me, but I noticed that once I reached for my phone—checking messages, WhatsApp, or the news—I was instantly submerged in the chaos of the world. That chaos crowded out stillness and dulled my awareness of God’s presence. Beginning my day with Scripture anchored my heart before the noise could take over.
Small and Big Acts That Shape the Soul
Crucifying the flesh does not always look dramatic. Often, it is found in quiet obedience.
Small, daily acts may include:
- Choosing prayer instead of scrolling
- Fasting from social media, even for a day
- Remaining silent instead of defending yourself
- Forgiving quickly rather than holding onto offence
- Obeying promptly when God nudges your heart
Larger acts might involve:
- Saying no to habits that weaken your spiritual life
- Giving generously when it costs you comfort
- Restructuring your time to prioritise God’s presence
- Choosing obedience even when you are misunderstood
Galatians 2:20 declares, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” This challenge is about making space for that truth to be evident in our daily lives.
An Invitation to the 365-Day Journey
This is an invitation to walk intentionally with God for this year, 2026. Not in perfection, but in pursuit. Not led by feelings, but by faith. As Colossians 3:5 instructs us, “Put to death whatever belongs to your earthly nature.”
One choice.
One day.
One year of faithful surrender.
