Lately, the word “Honour” has been on repeat in my thoughts.
In a world where we’re constantly chasing after recognition and validation, it’s easy to feel like something’s missing. But here’s the thing: true honour doesn’t come from the applause of others; it comes from God.
As we journey through life, trying to find our place and meaning, it’s important to hold onto this truth: our honour comes from the Lord Himself. So instead of seeking approval from the world, let’s lean into God’s promises for our worth and recognition.
Over the past two years, I’ve come to understand something profound: when God honours you, it’s a big deal. It’s like He’s putting a spotlight on you, showing the world His love, grace, and favour in a way that’s beyond anything this world can offer.
And here’s the kicker:
God’s honour isn’t about what you’ve achieved or what society thinks of you. It’s all about the purity of your heart, the depth of your faith, and how committed you are to His plan for your life. That’s where true honour lies.
Proverbs 15:33 hits the nail on the head when it tells us that humility comes before honour. This means recognizing that God is in charge and His wisdom surpasses anything we could ever come up with. Instead of chasing after earthly rewards, let’s humble ourselves before God, inviting His blessings and favour into our lives. Our true value isn’t measured by what the world thinks of us, but by our connection with God and our willingness to follow His lead. That’s where our worth truly lies.
Psalm 84:11 paints a beautiful picture of how God showers favour and honour on those who walk in integrity. When we seek God’s guidance and live according to His commandments, we open ourselves up to receive His abundant blessings. God delights in honouring those who honour Him, pouring out His grace and goodness upon them. So let’s strive to live uprightly, knowing that God sees and rewards our efforts with His loving kindness.
Turn to 1 Peter 5:6–it gives us a comforting reminder to humble ourselves under God’s mighty hand, trusting in His perfect timing for elevation. Instead of hustling for recognition through our efforts, let’s lean on God’s timing and His plans for us.
As we surrender to His will and trust in His promises, we can have peace knowing that He will honour us in His perfect way and at the right time. So, let’s release our grip on control and let God take the lead, knowing that His timing is always perfect.
He honours us in ways that far surpass anything the world could ever offer. So let’s focus on pleasing Him above all else, knowing that His approval is what truly matters.
Consider this Here are three “Hs” to hold onto this week: 1. Heavenly Honour: Recognize that true honour comes from God, surpassing worldly acclaim. 2. Humility First: Embrace humility as a precursor to receiving God’s honour. 3. Heavenly Timing: Trust in God’s timing and plan, give up control for divine recognition and honour. |
